Lies

Filed under: Politics — Bunker @ 5:26 pm

Big Trunk tells us the DNC is not happy when their own tactics are turned against them. They claim the ad is full of lies, yet tell their own in the threat letter to television stations in hopes of getting them to back down.

I don’t remember when they threatened lawsuits against theaters for showing Michael Moore’s “documentary.”

And Glenn has more, plus some comments.

  1. Perhaps someone should do a “straw poll” on Vietnam Vets…asking about our support for Kerry. In my experience not one of the many I’ve talked to has a kind word to say about him.

  2. The more I hear about Kerry’s time in Vietnam, the more I see an opportunist..a scared opportunist. I think if you’ve not been in a pressure situtation in the military, you really cannot comprehend the disgust honest veterans feel toward him. I think all of us have known people like that, and I don’t think he deals with pressure very well. That one thing eliminates him from my consideration for the Presidency.

  3. My Father was an Army officer stationed in Germany during Vietnam. My Uncle was in the Air Force flying missions over Vietnam. My Step-Dad enlisted and served as an Army medic in Vietnam…My Uncle, a career officer and lifelong Democrat, died 18 months ago so I can’t speak for him. But this I do know: In my family there are at least two Vets who support Kerry.

    P.S.

Yesterday, a key figure in the anti-Kerry campaign, Kerry’s former commanding officer, backed off one of the key contentions. Lieutenant Commander George Elliott said in an interview that he had made a “terrible mistake” in signing an affidavit that suggests Kerry did not deserve the Silver Star — one of the main allegations in the book. The affidavit was given to The Boston Globe by the anti-Kerry group to justify assertions in their ad and book.

  4. I just heard he denies saying that. Who’s to know?

    One of 250.

  5. We shall see. I don’t see any legit news services carrying that yet…But, at least John McCain see this for what it is.

‘I deplore this kind of politics,’ Mr McCain said. ‘I think the advertisement is dishonest and dishonourable. It reopens all the old wounds of the Vietnam War, which I spent the last 35 years trying to heal.’

Mr McCain called on the White House to join him in condemning the advertisement produced by Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, a group of anti-Kerry Vietnam veterans bankrolled by Republican donors.

Didn’t Bush torpedo McCain back in 2000 too? Also, not one of those “Veterens for Truth” served under Kerry. I am quite shocked that you would lend credence to them.
