Exactly. People are quick to condemn Bush for the scandal. Those same folks omit any reference to al the politicians who benefitted from Enron’s largesse. Actually, Clinton had more involvement with Lay than did Bush during the last ten years. So did many others. And the deceitful practices which came to light when Enron went down had been going on for years.
The point is, Bush was not responsible for the problems, but was in office when they were exposed. Enron was headquartered in Houston, and Bush is from Texas. Therefore, he must be to blame.

Not blaming but I just found this interesting nugget:
Yahoo! News – Enron E-Mail a Window on Political Money

One of the things never mentioned or explored in situations like this is, what did any politician do to cause Enron to go under? What could they have done?
I think people make links such as this in hopes of making it appear a given politician has done something illegal or unethical.
Politicians get money from people to run for office. I’ve looked at the campaign finance laws and reporting requirements thinking I might be interested in running for office. It is far too complex for me to consider on my own. I, too, would be looking for donations. I know my ethics and integrity would make me a bad choice for attracting donors, but I don’t really know how I could keep up with the finances of anyone who donated money to me.
When all is said and done regarding Enron, what happened is that someone in the organization cooked the books, and the auditors either didn’t catch it or glossed over it intentionally. I don’t know which.
But I do think there were no politicians involved in doing those illegal things. If there were, let’s throw them in jail. Period. With some conviction I can say if Bush or anyone else had been involved, that would be front-page news.
