Wow! PressThink says there will be 15,000 people covering the Convention in Boston.
How many attendees do they expect?
Maybe it’s at the 5,000 or 6,000 mark–the number of delegates for the Democrats.

Hey Bunker, just wanted to let you know that there will be 10,000 NYC Cops protecting Madison Square Garden during the RNC.
How many boots are there on the ground in Afganistan right now?

Can’t answer the question. Just think of the cost to NYC and Boston for hosting the two conventions.
I haven’t seen anything on how many police will be working the DNC in Boston, but I guess it will be similar.
My point was that there are more people covering the convention than will be attending. Why so defensive?

Well, I must admit I am a bit unhappy about the Republicans coming here. We got plenty of problems here as it is. We have been through alot up here and bringing *any* political convention here is not wise IMHO. They are closing Grand Central down to two entry points in and out, and closing Eighth Ave. from 23rd to 34th St. and Seventh Ave. from 29th to 42nd St. And 31st thru 33rd from Sixth Ave to Ninth Ave.
Traffic is going to suck…That I can deal with. But the potential for sudden closures and suspension of Subway service depending on the security situation makes it fairly scary.
I work in Times Square right no one I know is happy about the convention. We got plenty of tourists already, we don’t need partisan warriors roaming the streets. Seriously, nobody but the Republicans and the Protesters are happy about this. I am sure you know what it is like to be around soldiers with AR-15s, concrete barriers, and random searches…Not fun.
Don’t even get me started on the Taxpayer burden. And for what? They already know who is running, what is the real point of either of the conventions? They want to use the people of Boston and NYC as a backdrop for the viewing public? We got better things we could be spending our money on. I know they say the convention will be an economic boom for us, but I think that is only partially true. Everyone who can leave the city is doing so. Hell, Bloomberg even is trying to get employers to let people go…I can’t leave and I wish I could.
