Wretchard has an absolutely spot-on analysis of the efforts of the Marines in Fallujah.
The test will be that the insurgents will want to drag this out as long as possible, at least until June. By that time they will cause Marine casualties, and get their allies in the US to press their case in the media. This is treasonous, without a doubt, regardless of the parsing and phrasing of news reports. We can no longer prosecute treason in this country because we failed to prosecute those who worked to aid the North Vietnamese 30+ years ago.
I am glad we have Marines handling this one. They are no more qualified or capable than the 82nd ABN, but there is a bit of fraternal avenging for Beirut long overdue. And, perhaps, a bit of psychological advantage. Everyone in the world knows the Marine Corps are our trouble-shooters.
Shoot the trouble, guys.
