Independence Day

I forgot all about Texas Independence Day. What other state has one of its own?

  1. When I moved from Texas to Illinois in 6th grade, I remember being shocked that no one “remembered the Alamo.” Nor had they studied any Texas history or Texas government or Texas anything. Later in life I realized how hysterical it was that my entire elementary school years were spent studying Texas and that I knew nothing of other states or of the USA as a whole. Ah, Texas.

  2. I have to smile…isn’t it interesting how tied up we get over who we are and where we live. I believe in values, and individuals have those, not groups.

    Except Texans!
