greasy elbow

Bogey is moving his business site to a new host, and the old one decided to shut him down even though he was completely paid up.

Any lawyers out there who want to cause a hosting service some grief?

  1. Heh heh, thanks for the thought, Bunker. I probably don’t have much of a case against them; I did tell them to cancel and foolishly assumed that they would behave like other, more worthy hosting services I’d dealt with in the past and release the domain and change the DNS before wiping everything out. What they did was lame, disappointing, annoying, and unnecessary, but probably pretty defensible under their own crappy terms & conditions.

I had all my files pulled down before they pulled the plug, and I don’t really rely on that site for day-to-day income generation. If I did, I’d have been better prepared for this situation by squaring away the registrar transfer before announcing my intention to cancel to those jerks.

And as of this morning, it’s back.

  3. My intent wasn’t to sue them, just to get a letter to them to get the hairs on the back of their necks to stand on end a bit. It is amazing what a letter on legal office stationery can do!

  4. A letter on the right letterhead can oil the wheels of progress/activity better than any petroleum product! Worth a try! I have used that method to much success in the past. 😉
