Shutting down comments for a couple of hours to put an end to this barrage.
Hmmm. Found an interesting fix for robots spreading spam. We’ll see how it goes. This one is eating up the bandwidth in a hurry!

Would you like to find out where these spammers are located?

Copy the IP Address from the spam e-mail header and paste it into this program and you’ll be able to determine the source of these headaches. I doubt you will be able to get rid of them completely, but a complaint to their server might get them shut down.
It’s worth a try.

Unfortunately, that leads nowhere. The spammer is using a different IP for each comment. I did track dow two servers that are common, and sent nasty emails. I also changed how the comments work in an attempt to stop it at the source. We’ll see how that works.

This guy is from the Ukraine where so much spam originates and has made it a personal crusade to help others fight unsolicited e-mails.
Incidently, I’m pretty sure your site was hacked by a spambot. I wonder if you other readers are having trouble with spam, in my case I recieve a boat load of spam daily since I posted a comment on your BB. It is bad enough that I will soon have to get a new email addy from my ISP.
