Whew!

Filed under: General — Bunker @ 5:02 pm

Hard drive going bad… can’t get anti-virus to work… can’t remove, edit, or reinstall it… Go to Best Buy and look at new hard drives… convince myself to get new computer rather than continue with the one I have pieced together…

So I did.

Back-up, bookmarks, email addresses, Quicken files, contact information, golf course & score information. Remainder of the day spent getting the new computer set up. I hate it. But it had a DVD-RW I can use to back up the whole thing regularly.

More snow

Filed under: General — Bunker @ 5:50 am

I’ve been told there has been no snow in Corpus Christi in forty years. Nobody else is up yet here, so I got some photos of untrampled white stuff before it all goes away today–forecast high of 54.

I didn’t expect to see this much when I got up. And it’s still coming down.

Merry Christmas

“And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria. So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city. Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.’ And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: ‘Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!’ So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, ‘Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.’ And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger. Now when they had seen Him, they made widely
known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them.” (Luke 2:1-20)

Elitist Pig

I can’t imagine ever shutting down my comments. I find some interesting blogs in my comment section. This morning, while checking for emails from Julie for an update on Wallace, I saw a comment from someone new. So I went to the site. Elitist Pig is the website of Dave Nalle:

Dave Nalle was born in 1959 in Beirut, Lebanon while his parents were serving in the diplomatic service. His early childhood was spent all over the Middle East in countries like Syria, Iran and Jordan. When he was 6 his family returned for two tours of duty in Washington DC before being sent abroad again. During his early teens they lived in England and ultimately in the Soviet Union.

He’s now on my links list.

The interim Prime Minister points out

In just over one month’s time, the citizens of Iraq will be presented with a unique opportunity to close a chapter of decades of tyrannical rule and take their first steps to shape their own future by participating in the first free and fair elections in generations. On Jan. 30, Iraqis will vote for the Iraqi National Assembly to enable the drafting of a permanent constitution, in preparation for full elections for a government one year later.

Think about that for a minute. An entirely new National Assembly is to be selected at the end of next month. Has MSM done any coverage of the election campaign? I’ve not seen any. The Iraqis must be far better at this election stuff than we are. They have apparently not even begun the campaign which will be complete in six weeks.

Tough old bird

Wallace is getting his chest cut open as I write. Triple by-pass. I would ask all of you to say a prayer asking for ultimate skill on behalf of the surgeon involved. Wallace is a tough old Ranger, so he should be fine. But he won’t be getting any sugarplums this Christmas.

Drop by his site and leave a message, or go to Julie’s page to do the same. She may not remember how to get into his blog!
