As I read Intellectual Morons, I am consistently amazed at what passes for education in our Centers for Higher Education. Dan Rather’s use of fake documents pales in comparison to some of the textbooks and reading resources required at universities.
What is troubling to me is the attitude of many educators who use these. For example, one book required at many of our top colleges is I, Rigoberta Mench
Isn’t it odd when there’s a simple solution to the problem: call it fiction?

Great post! I am starting to understand more and more that any dummy can be in the intellectual elite. All you have to do is read a lot of books and ask no questions. Questions are absolutely discouraged.

Last week John Rosenberg wrote a comparison of Rigoberta and Dan Rather that was quite genius, in my opinion:

Francis, what’s really odd to me is that one of my International Relation MS professors had his PoliSci undergrad and PhD from Berkeley. He had since “seen the light,” and was one of the best I ever had for explaining Marxist thought.
Of course, this was about 15 years ago.
