Tall Dogs

Filed under: International — Bunker @ 6:28 am

Two tales of dogs over at Gut Rumbles, here and here. I’d recommend you simply visit the site on a regular basis. Acidman and I have much in common personally, and I like his writing style and take on issues.

In particular, I agree with his assessment that the UN has absolutely no moral ground on which it can still stand. I’m ready to see us leave.

  2. I think downtown Baghdad would be a good place for their new headquarters.

  3. Actually the dude calling him self DT did make sense in that fear and respect are mutually exclusive. Had we done Afghanistan to the end and served the world OBL’s head on a silver platter, THEN did a “Marshall” plan to rebuild the nation, we would have respect. I remind everyone again, 15 of the 19 Sept 11th hikackers were SAUDI nationals, Osama is Suadi, pray tell me again why the hell we invaded IRAQ??

  4. Fear and respect are not mutually exclusive. In fact, they often go hand in hand. They are not the same thing, which would be a better way of phrasing it. You apparently served time in the military. Did you fear or respect your drill sergeant? Or both?

We invaded Iraq because we couldn’t invade Saudi Arabia with Saddam sitting there on our flank. There were also far too many Americans in SA ripe for the taking if we made a move like that. We are now positioned to easily take out any one of Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iran, or even Jordan if the need arises.

Afghanistan is being “done to the end. My oldest is there now, and they are working toward elections in September. In my opinion, bin Laden is already dead. And the respect you desire is not forthcoming from any country in this world because we are America. They respect us more now than prior to Iraq. They can’t say that, because they like us less. For many reasons.

But our government is supposed to serve our interests, not those of other countries. Even if we have to go it alone. Diplomacy is a game, and it is a game of give and take. Sometimes you simply cannot give.
