Damn that’s a shocker. I had not seen that elsewhere and Hack always looked fit enough to still whip most 21 year olds. He was a friend, sort of, of Joe Galloway and I had many email swaps with him and even talked to him twice by telephone. He called me “Cacti”, the knickname of my old battalion, the 1/35th, which was a sister unit in the 25th Division to his old Korean War unit the 1/27th “Wolfhounds”. He sent me an autographed copy of “The Vietnam Primer” which he contributed to.
I didn’t always agree with some of his later thoughts, but he was a champion of the soldier and for that I thank him.
Hack was great when he championed the troops and berated Congress for their ineptitude. When he began talking strategy and politics, he lost credibility.
He did far more good than ill for our folks carrying the guns, and for that I am thankful.

Wallace, you echoed my sentiments. God Bless Hack for his service to our country…but, like you, I did not always agree Hack.
Dear Lord, keep Hack close to Your Heart, and in the brightest Light.
